How
do I take Ionamin?
Always

usually begins with 30 mg of Ionamin taken two hours before breakfast and / or
lunch. This dosage is effective for suppression of appetite for a period of 12-14

Ionamin may cause insomnia, it's a good idea to take Ionamin in the morning or
early afternoon. It's stimulatory effect will go mostly unnoticed during the day
and therefore, late evening administration of the drug should be avoided. The
FDA recommends therapy for a duration of no longer than three months with Ionamin.
Natural mechanisms in the body cause an adaptation to the stimulatory actions
of the drug. This leads to a tolerance and a gradual ineffectiveness of the drug

What
precautions should I consider? Ionamin
is not advisable for patients with coexisting diseases like advanced arteriosclerosis,
coronary heart disease, moderate to severe hypertension, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma
and any known allergy to sympathomimetic drugs. Ionamin,
when taken with antidepressants or within 14 days of using them, may lead to dangerously
high blood-pressure. Since Ionamin may elevate blood pressure it should be avoided
even with mild hypertension, and it may even decrease the efficiency of some anti-hypertensive
drugs. Diabetic patients who are on Ionamin will require modification of insulin
levels as well. Ionamin
should only be taken by pregnant women if the benefits to the mother outweigh
the risk to the fetus. In view of the potential for serious adverse reactions
in nursing infants, mothers taking Ionamin must not breast feed their children.
The drug is not meant to be used in patients below the age of 16. Ionamin
may impair the ability of the patient to engage in potentially hazardous activities
such as operating machinery or driving a motor vehicle; the patient should therefore
be cautioned accordingly. Keep
in mind that Ionamin is intended to be used in addition to healthy diet and exercise.
For the best results, your doctor will most likely prescribe Ionamin for only
a few months, since your weight loss may "level out" if you continue treatment
any longer. Do not increase or in any way change your dosage without consulting

are the possible side effects?
If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Ionamin
and seek emergency medical attention immediately: - An
allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your
lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
- An irregular
heartbeat or very high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision);
- Hallucinations,
abnormal behavior, or confusion.
Other,
less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Ionamin
and talk to your doctor if you experience: - Restlessness
or tremor;
- Nervousness or anxiety;
- Headache
or dizziness;
- Insomnia;
- Dry
mouth or an unpleasant taste in your mouth;
- Diarrhea
or constipation; or
- Impotence or changes
in your sex drive.
Ionamin is habit forming.
You can become physically and psychologically dependent on this medication, and
withdrawal effects may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after several weeks
of continuous use. Talk to your doctor about stopping this medication gradually.
